Here is a quick, one minute apologetics to give your Protestant friends:
Protestant’s believe that Faith alone saves. They get this Faith from Scripture alone.
Jesus Christ disagrees.
“You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that testify on my behalf. Yet you refuse to come to me to have life.” John 5:39-40
So how do we come to Him?
“Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them.” John 6:56
So how do we eat His body and drink His blood if He has been raised into Heaven?
“Jesus took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body. Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Matthew 26:26-28
But was He not only talking to the people at the Last Supper?
Well, years later, St. Paul, who was not at the Last Supper says:
“For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when He was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way He took the cup also, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.” 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
Catechism of the Catholic Church 1333:
“At the heart of the Eucharistic celebration are the bread and wine that, by the words of Christ and the invocation of the Holy Spirit, become Christ’s Body and Blood. Faithful to the Lord’s command the Church continues to do, in his memory and until his glorious return, what he did on the eve of his Passion”
Christ said Faith alone is not enough. Christ said Scripture alone will not bring Life. Christ said eat His body and drink His blood. The Catholic Church is the One True Faith that preserved this message of Salvation from Christ’s own declaration to the Priests own recitation at Holy Mass.
Separated brothers in Christ, I know it means you will have to change everything, but it is eternally worth it! Join us in Holy Communion with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
The Holy Eucharist is really and truly the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of the God that created you. Therefore, it logically requires a fair and honest discernment before you approach such a phenomenal experience. To this end, the Catholic Church has Priests and Laypeople who can assist you in preparing for Holy Communion. If you have not been baptized and/ or have not been properly instructed you should not be receiving Holy Communion.
